Youth Fundraising ActivitiesThe ways in which supporters can raise money for the Idaho Humane Society are only limited by the imagination and energy of our supporters. Here are some basic guidelines for youth fundraising activites and some ideas to get you started:
Car WashesYou can organize a car wash with a set price per car or ask for a donation of whatever the driver would be willing to give per car instead. An alternative method is to take pledges from families, teachers, friends or neighbors for each car washed on the day of the car wash. Or, a pledge drive can be combined with a driver donation to increase the amount of money raised. Choose a visible location for a car wash; the more traffic flow the better. You will of course need permission from the property owner and enough water hookups and hoses. In addition to car wash volunteers, you'll need some students to hold signs as well. You could also advertise in a school or community newspaper. Make sure advertisements and signs tell the public that the proceeds will be donated to the Idaho Humane Society. RecyclingCollecting recyclable aluminum cans is a great way to help I.H.S. raise money. The Idaho Humane Society has dedicated aluminum can recycling bins at all Zamzows locations and at the Idaho Humane Society additionally recyclables can be taken directly to the recycling company and the proceeds can then be delivered to I.H.S. Assisting with Official Fundraising Events and EffortsThe Idaho Humane Society has numerous fundraising events, including See Spot Walk, our annual dog walk, in which we need volunteers. Typically volunteers at events must be 16 years of age and accompanied by an adult supervisor. Bake SalesYouths and youth groups sometimes organize bake sales to benefit I.H.S. Advertise the date and location of the sale with flyers that tell buyers the proceeds will be given to I.H.S. Have group members sign up to make various baked goods to be sold. Garage/Thrift SalesEvery year many families and groups donate the proceeds of rummage sales of used goods to I.H.S. One way to collect goods for sale in addition to toys, books and clothes that you no longer need is to tell other neighbors having sales that you will take unsold goods and add them to your advertised sale. In your newspaper ad and in posters, be sure to let the buyers know that the proceeds of the sale will be donated to I.H.S.
