Dogs

  • Adoption fees range from $20 to $300 depending on the size, breed, age and condition of the animal. For more information on our variable pricing for dog adoptions, click here.

Cats

  • $50 for cats 1 to 4 years old
  • $25 for cats 5 to 9 years old if already spayed or neutered when entering shelter
  • $10 for cats 10 years old or older if already spayed or neutered when entering shelter
  • $50 for previously unneutered cats of any age.

All adoptions include mandatory spay or neuter, first FVRCP (cats) or DHPP (dogs)vaccination, rabies vaccination and microchip for identification purposes plus a packet of food samples and educational information.

All dogs that are available for adoption are spayed or neutered prior to viewing by the public, cats are spayed and neutered upon adoption.  Click here to learn about the many benefits of spaying and neutering.

License Fees

Dogs - Boise City

All city residents must purchase a license when adopting a dog. The license is good for one year from the date of purchase.

  • $43.60 Unneutered/Unspayed Dog
  • $17.90 Spayed/Neutered Dog
  • $9.75 Spayed/Neutered Dog for Senior Citizen

Dogs - Ada County

All Ada county residents must purchase a license when adopting a dog. The license is good for one year from the date of purchase.

  • $17.40 Spayed/Neutered Dog
  • $43.60 Unspayed/Unneutered Dog
  • $9.75 Spayed/Neutered Dog for Senior Citizen
  • $4.00 Duplicate Tag Fee

Dogs- Eagle

  • $10 Spayed/Neutered Dog
  • $25 Unneutered/Unspayed Dog

Dogs- Kuna

  • $7.50 Spayed/Neutered Dog
  • $12 Unneutered/Unspayed Dog

Dogs- Meridian

  • $16 Spayed/Neutered Dog
  • $21 Unneutered/Unspayed Dog

Cats

Cats do not have licenses but we recommend that you keep a collar and identification tag on your cat at all times. Identification tags can be purchased at the IHS Store.

Drop-off Fees

  • $20 for each cat - $40 for cat litters
  • $30 for each dog - $50 for dog litters

This is a service that we gladly provide for the community but funding is necessary to defray the expenses that incur when we take care of your pets. Stray animals are admitted to our shelter without charge. This service includes vaccination, spaying or neutering, medical care if necessary, food and shelter for an indeterminate amount of time, grooming if necessary and adoption promotion and services.
