Donate by Mail: You may also donate by mail using a credit card or check. Please click here to print a donation form.

Donate with Electronic Funds Transfer

You can eliminate processing/handling costs, need for checks, and postage costs by setting up an Electronic Funds Transfer option for making monthly donations to I.H.S. You are in total control of the amount of your donation and can stop the donations whenever you desire. This paperless process, using secure software, allows donors to make a monthly donation to I.H.S. automatically for as long as they wish. You can either contact your bank and initiate the process through them, or you can contact Emily Hirsch at Idaho Humane Society, 4775 Dorman St., Boise, Idaho 83705, 208-331-8558, Ehirsch@idahohumanesociety.org and ask for the EFT form. We will send you the form to fill out and return to us. We then take the form to our bank, and they will set up the arrangement with your bank. You determine the day of the month that the donation is transferred and the amount, and donations continue automatically until you cancel the process. This makes regular, monthly donations easy and safe. It is an excellent way to show your support for the work of I.H.S.

Questions or Problems: If you have questions or problems with your donation please contact our development director at (208) 387-2760 or by email.

Memorials and Honorary Donations

The Idaho Humane Society welcomes gifts and donations in memory and honor of family, friends and pets. Donate your Automobile (for the animals!)

It's easy to donate your car and show your support of the Idaho Humane Society! You can arrange a vehicle donation online, just click here. Or just call Toll-Free (877) 537-5277 or email donations@charitableautoresources.com to speak to a vehicle donation representative. Our representative will schedule a pickup that's convenient for you, and provide you with a confirmation of your donation. If the gross proceeds from the sale of your donated vehicle is $500 or more, you will receive an IRS tax form 1098c stating the sale price of the vehicle. This amount is what you claim on the itemized tax return.

According to the tax law effective January 1, 2005, if the claimed value of the donated vehicle exceeds $500, the taxpayer is limited to the gross proceeds of the sale.

Support Low Cost Spay and Neuter Surgeries for Low Income Households

When you support the low cost spay neuter programs of our veterinary medical center you invest in the effort that saves the most lives per dollar spent. Thanks to decades of providing low cost spays and neuters locally, the number of surplus animals entering our shelter has decreased during years in which the human population has increased dramatically. Our S.P.O.T. (stop pet overpopulation today) campaign has an ambitious goal to increase the number of spays and neuters performed by thousands of surgeries annually. The S.P.O.T. program includes everyday low cost surgeries performed at our hospital which is open seven days per week, evening low cost clinics operated on site utilizing volunteers to support trained veterinarians and medical staff, and our innovative off site surgeries performed in our veterinary hospital on wheels, the SPOT unit, which also provides these services to low income areas elsewhere in Idaho. To make a dedicated donation to directly fund spay neuter services, send a donation to SPOT c/o Idaho Humane Society, 4775 Dorman Street, Boise, Idaho 83705 or call our development office (208) 387-2760 or by email  to arrange a credit card or electronic funds transfer donation.

Recycling aluminum cans: Great for the environment, and now great for the Idaho Humane Society

We're pleased to announce a new way to help the Idaho Humane Society rescue and re-home pets while also helping to preserve our environment. Aluminum can recycling bins are now located at every Zamzow's store. Please donate your aluminum cans at any Zamzow's store, 100% of the proceeds from this recycling project will benefit the Idaho Humane Society. Help us continue to recycle love!

Donate Pet Food for Pets in Need

The Idaho Humane Society and Meals On Wheels have partnered to form the Pet Food Pantry, a program to collect pet food for pets in need. The Pet Food Pantry is an ongoing program to provide dog and cat food to families and individuals in need of assistance, maintain our pet food supply for Idaho Humane Society foster care families, and provide pet food to other local animal welfare organizations. Many local businesses have generously signed on to provide donation locations. Click here for more information on how you can support this great program.

Frankie's Friends

Since 1999, Frankie's Friends Holiday Pet-Care Drive has raised money to help the Idaho Humane Society care for animals at the shelter. Frankie is a real dog, rescued by the I.H.S., and re-homed to a kind owner who, in collaboration with Zamzows Stores, began this successful fundraiser for our shelter. What began as a $300 fundraiser now provides food and needed supplies for nearly 15,000 animals annually. Frankie's Friends supply drive begins each year after the Thanksgiving holiday and continues through December. Click here for a link to our downloadable donation form, or donate anytime, by simply specifying Frankie's Friends with your donation.

Matching Gifts

Matching Gifts are a vital part of our fund-raising efforts. You can increase your contribution to the Idaho Humane Society if your company has a Matching Gifts Program. Check with your Human Resources office to obtain a matching gift form and enclose it with your contribution. Thank you!

Mail Solicitations

The Idaho Humane Society sends appeals through the mail several times a year. It is true that all of us end up with more mail from worthy causes than we wish to receive. However, direct mail is a very cost-effective way to raise a significant part of our annual budget. Presently, we cannot raise as much money at such a low cost in any other way. So, if you find it annoying to receive mail appeals, let us know. But first, please send a check!

Cruelty Prevention Fund

The Idaho Humane Society rescues many abused animals every year. We rely on your tax-deductible donations to support our rescue efforts. Your donations allow us to place thousands of dogs, cats, and other domestic pets in loving, nurturing homes - sparing them the fate of so many unwanted animals in our society. We greatly appreciate your concern for these creatures and assure you that your gift will do much to ensure their welfare.

You can specify that your donation be used generally to assist the victims of cruelty or you can specify that your donation go to help a particular animal.

Sponsor a Foster Animal

Want to help a foster animal but unable to adopt or become a foster parent? You can also help by making a donation toward an animal's adoption fee. Any amount that you donate will help and we will apply it directly toward the adoption fee of any foster animal of your choosing. Your donation will make a difference!

Volunteer or Foster

Join our team of dedicated volunteers and foster parents. They are some of the nicest, most caring people that you will ever meet.

Donate Your Used & 2nd Hand Items

IHS collects used and second hand items, such as clothing, goods, housewares, furniture, etc., in relatively "good" condition. (Computers only if they're working. No mattresses, sorry!) We sort your donations and place them for sale at both local, and on-line auction venues. All proceeds go directly to the support of our stray and adoptable animals. For more information, call Becky Phillips at 342-3508, ext. 2235.
